BUILD is an e-book for people who want to make their own tools, even with zero technical or coding knowledge. That’s where I started too. The book begins there: choose an everyday problem, work through the questions, then make a small project you can try and check.
Use the approach and exercises with your choice of AI, including Claude, ChatGPT, or Codex. Start a step at a time, try things, and check the results as you go.

Start with a simple everyday problem.
Think of the last time a task took more effort than it should. Write a few lines:
- What were you trying to do?
- Where did you get stuck?
- How did you work around it?
My family runs a building-materials shop. We still write bills by hand — very manual. When several customers arrive together, we can’t write them fast enough. So I built a shop system with a feature that lets us speak the items into a phone and have the system create a bill from what we say.
That gives us a concrete problem: capture the order while customers are waiting, then test how much voice input helps. Choose a moment from your own day and use the questions above to work out what could improve.
